Alex Carlson is a Materials and sustainability Expert working in the outdoor industry. Alex works mainly in the space of innovative, sustainable, and conceptual material design, focused on textiles, leathers, and synthetics.  Apart from her work as a Materials Designer, Alex works as a freelance illustrator and designer.  Alex's graphic design is grounded in fun and youthful characters and prints for a wide range of clientele.

Alex has worked in the footwear industry for over a decade and has expertise in materials, footwear design, and sustainability through materials. Her work in footwear has been featured internationally; reaching many marketplaces and being featured in multiple publications across the world including Glamour, Wired, and Highsnob.

Textile and fiber arts are also explored through modern quilting, natural dyes, and many handmade stuffed animals.
